So many words, so many words...

F├╝ssli - Symplegma eines Mannes und einer Frau mit helfender Dienerin

I really had planned for this super secret selfish project I'm working on to be about 18-20,000 words when I started mulling it over last year. I was actually pretty darn worried about hitting my 18-20K. So, as I was squeezing in the end of a chapter and the beginning of another this morning before some chores, I was a bit surprised to see I'm at roughly 48,000 words. Surprised and excited. This project will be far more exciting than I even thought. I had planned on breaking a few current 'rules of thumb' for publishing. But I never expected it to be a full blown book. Now I'm extra stoked! The goal is to meander through this thing while hitting other deadlines and commitments and hopefully have it wrapped up and ready to go by the end of the year. I am FORCING myself not to rush on this one. And some days I give myself a super hard time.

It's Friday and I'm feeling decent. I'm thinking I might give a glass of wine with the man a go tonight. I've only tried wine a few times in the last month+. And it did not work. It's been over two weeks since the last time. But I'm hoping I can sit down with him and at least have a glass to relax. I miss that little ritual of ours. I mean, come on, body...you can't let me have just one! Cross your fingers for me and have a great weekend!

Up to no good...just the way I like it...

I'm a few days late on publicly saying yay!

My grandmother always teased me about having that look of being up to no good. I think mischief is in my blood. ;) I am very pleased to be a part of the Mischief line's new erotica collections and knock wood, throw salt, something longer of my own in the near future.

Mischief books are available on Kindle, Nook and at the line's HOME SITE.

More news on that longer work and more appearances in these awesome collections soon!

Besides this AMAZING artwork...

(click it. it gets bigger. heh) I wanted to say happy birthday, to you, "the man". :) I've always known I was lucky, but the last few weeks (post surgical bullshit and horrors included) have proven me wrong. I am not lucky. I am whatever lies beyond lucky. Whatever lives just past blessed. And I love you and have no words to pinpoint it, despite doing this word thing all day long. I could keep talking, but that pretty much sums it up.

Hope we make your birthday whatever lies beyond joyous and fun and memorable. :)

XOXO

p.s. yes, reader, you guessed it, it's the man's birthday. say howdy if you want. I'll be back to normal work bloggage tomorrow. xoxo
p.p.s. Yes! I did do that AWE-INSPRING ART. All by myself. What do you mean you believe it?

see you...

LGC Sorry We're Closed sign
in a few. Lot going on here and I have very little to say at the moment as far as blogging. I've noticed in the past that the thing to jump start my urge to say things on my blog is saying that I shan't say anything on my blog! I am a pain in the ass that way. So I'm going to be forcibly quiet for a few days to percolate.

That being said, What are you reading!? Any good suggestions to share? I am just wrapping up Aloha from Hell: A Sandman Slim Novel by Richard Kadrey. An awesome series I (thank goodness!) fell ass backwards into. I'm looking for more. I prefer horror, mystery and the 'new'* Scifi/Fantasy/Urban Fantasy thing (*meaning not what my one girlfriend used to read. The books were the size of bibles and had sentences like "He was the high elf of Aqokjncoing and his name was Yeonohgohniogn. His father had been a Y'pjnong and had won the great war" (that is when I start drooling)). So if you have a stellar book that is just too good to even put words around, tell me. :) I will check in to post any suggestions throughout the weekend.

And we wrap up the tour with...

Les sirenes visitees par les muses, lalyre Janine Ashbless who has titled her blog today SOMMER HAS ANGRY SEX! (ha!). And that's a fair statement considering the blog is about how much of me is in my characters and how much of my characters might be in me. And that mom's do...alert the media...wait for it...have sex (gasp!)

Final stop on the tour. Thanks to all who've popped in to peek and especially to those who have been along for the whole angry ride. You're super. :)

XOXO
Sommer
p.s. As an aside, I recently (yes, yes! I know I've had my contributor copies forever, but that is how I work, randomly pulling books down and reading stories when the mood strikes) Janine's story "Gold, on Snow" in Alison Tyler's Alison's Wonderland . Wowza! If you have not read that particular take on Snow White...do it.

Stop 5...a bit serious for self...

Everdingen, Caesar van - Four Muses and Pegasus on Parnassus - c. 1650
~Everdingen, Caesar van - Four Muses and Pegasus on Parnassus - c. 1650

I don't really do a lot of serious blogging. Or uber sober stuff. I think the world is full of that stuff as it is. I usually hope to make people laugh or just smile if anything. Sometimes folks ask me to write on a topic that makes me accidentally sober (as in tone not lack of wine. Which I am lacking wine. I have not had wine in a very long time. Alert the media...and the Coast Guard). Stop five on the Angry Sex tour is at Chocolate Scotch. It's about what creativity is to me. Some of it, I wasn't really aware of until I wrote if if you must know.

There you have it! Stop 5. If you're reading along, thanks. If you've bought and read the book (as some have), thank you! And if you have anything to say or ask or just a howdy, please have at it. :)

Angry Sex stop 4...and food!

Chicken Soup
Okay, so the catch is you have to make the food, but if you're game, there's a recipe for my ridiculously easy GF chicken soup over at Teresa Noelle Roberts' blog today. Along with a fresh excerpt from ANGRY SEX.

This soup is very much what was in my mind when Adam made dinner for Luna post...um...bedroom activities. You can make it GF (gluten free) like me or you can break the rules and use regular noodles. Also, while you're there, check out Teresa's blog. She's like some garden goddess, earth angel, writer person. I feel the urge to go plant things. Immediately. When we start our no dig garden this year, I will pop over to her place for visual inspiration.

don't judge a book by it's cover...

Unless it's one of Willsin's. *Heh*.

I'm over at Willsin Rowe's blog today for day three of the Angry Sex Book Tour. Stop by and see what I think about his covers, how he does it and how awesome he is and see, seeing as this is Willsin, a few of his amusing comments peppered within.

Thanks to those of you gushing about my cover and title and all that jazz. And yes, even the book. You've given me a warm fuzzy and that's not nearly as dirty as it sounds. To see Angry Sex's first review, which happened to be a five star, just scroll down.

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone! Be green. Be wild. Be crazy. But please be safe.

doggie style...

You shall be subjected to a shot of my second favorite pair of spring pants (after the cock pants seen below) because it is once again 70+ degrees. These are my bulldog pants, bought in honor of the man. That's his dream dog, right there. Though not in purple... ;)

I am running on 5 hours of crappy sleep and woke in pain today. The man said most likely adhesions. Well, if that is the case, I do not enjoy the adhesions!

That is my old woman grumbling. Beyond being a snarky, tired, bitchy writer type person, I have worked on guest blogs (Yay! The Angry Sex blog tour begins this week), working on a short project, a novel and editing a book. I have messed with so many different things in a weird surreal high kind of state (thank you pain pill for the brain fog), I feel a bit ADDish. LOL

Beyond that, I got nothing. What you got? Anything? What's going on out there in the world of normal non-drugged folk?

Angry Sex...

I am so, so, sooooo excited for this book to come out next week. Even though it almost killed me. Okay, so that might be an exaggeration, but not as much as you might think. By the end, I hated to even look at this book. Someone just told me that means it's ready to be published.

Angry Sex is officially my first ever book where the heroine is a mom. I don't know why it's the first, but it is. And I have to admit, I fell in love with this character--the pressures she had for real and the ones she put on herself and her struggle to just let herself be a person instead of a perfect facilitator for others. Luna stole my heart. And Adam...well, Adam, the man who signs up to have said angry sex with Luna...he stole other bits of me. ;)

All that smooshy-gooshy book love being said, here is a snippet and all that jazz. Look for me to do a few guest posts around the blogosphere in the near future. Happy Friday!

Blurb:

Luna Watkins can’t remember feeling so stressed. Her teenage son Nick’s health issues are reemerging and her ex Ben wants to help but is just making ends meet with odd jobs. Her catering business is thriving but too hectic for her to handle, at least that’s what it feels like. Not to mention since she’s been divorced, she hasn’t dated much and has had sex even less. When Nick decides to visit his grandparents for the summer, Luna is devastated. And yet, she sees a chance to work through her anger and her angst. Maybe some time to feed her body, mind and soul knowing he’s well taken care of.

Enter Adam Singleton, her new, last minute server. Handsome, gruff Adam who’s working through his own anger.  Flirting turns to sparring. Sparring turns to angry sex—like therapy but naked. As time goes by and Luna and Adam become even more entangled, with their hardships and each other, the question becomes,  does angry sex turn to more anger…or peace?

Excerpt:

“Feel better?” His face was tight and unreadable. What felt like annoyance, rather than
anger, baked off him in waves.

“No,” she said, shocking them both by crying.

He pushed her back and she stumbled again. This time her ass hit the sofa hard enough
that she pretty much bounced right back up to standing. Luna barely heard Adam say, “Then do
it again” when she blindly swung, this time hitting his shoulder.

Oh fuck. Oh Jesus. What was wrong with her? This wasn’t Fight Club. This wasn’t a
book, or a movie, or even a joke. She was hitting this man who had zero to do with her rage. And
he was letting her.

“Better?”

She sobbed, nodding. “No.”

“You’re nodding but you said no.”

“I know.”

“You’re just so full of it, aren’t you?” He stood there. A handsome, patient monolith who
held all kind of secrets. At least it felt that way.

“Full of what? Shit?” she stammered.

His face broke into a fleeting smile. He chuckled. “No. Full of anger.”

“Oh, that. Yes, that,” she said. “Yes, I am. I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be,” he said, and pushed her so her ass hit the sofa again.

Luna screamed. She heard the noise burst out of her like a whistle from a teakettle. He
laughed…at her. And then when he dropped to his knees, bringing them face to face, he said,
“You are so fucking weak.”

And that’s when she slapped him across the face. This blow was not glancing. This blow
was not soft. This blow hit home with a satisfying whack and a wince on his good looking
features.

“Better?” he asked.

“Yes,” she whispered. Realizing she meant it. That had done it. Her body felt looser, her
chest lighter, her soul not as dirty. And she could see her palm print coming up on his stubbled
cheek and she felt so very horrified—but even that felt great.

“Good,” he growled and then he yanked her pants down around her hips so hard her
button popped off and rolled to the floor and the zipper growled as it tore and broke.

She lifted her hips, arched her back, let him pull down her ruined pants and her white
panties. He pulled her legs free of all the fabric but handled the panties for a moment. Just white
cotton briefs. Fairly new. No big deal. Not sexy at all, she knew. Nothing to write home about.
Heat and embarrassment stained her cheeks as he stared her down. Then he surprised her by
stuffing them in his pocket and said, “Fodder for later. I love white.”

a little cock and other stuff...

It is Thursday. Almost one week since surgery. I have to be honest, I thought I'd be utterly normal by now. Not even by now, by like three days ago. Clearly I had no frame of reference for something like this. I figured one or two pain pills for one or two days and tada! I'd be good as new. Said the woman who still clutches her right ribcage when she laughs, sneezes, or coughs as if she's being stabbed repeatedly. So as the week oozes by in a slow sludge of bad sleep and pain pills, we shall see what is what. Which actually means: this is a pot pourri of shit I have forgotten and/or just occurred to me:

Like this, I appear to have a little cock on my pants today. These are my favorite Spring pants. And the reason you are seeing them is...I am wearing them. This is the bizarre kind of shit that amuses me right now. And if you see that strip of color, that is a new top that I somehow bought without these pants in mind and yet...perfect color match. You know what this means...I am an inadvertent fashion genius.

Next we move on to the flasher anthology FLASHED put out by Kiki Howell for her birthday (yesterday, wolf whistle, *happy birthday, Kiki!*). I am in it along with some other great writers and it was utterly free. Until yesterday. On Kindle. And I forgot. So the good news is, if you are a member of my newsletter list, you got it for free this morning. If you are NOT a member then...why the hell not? Do I offend? (that is a Pretty In Pink reference for you, there). But I have other good news, I have two copies to give away here. So just send me an email at sommermarsden[@]gmail[.]com and say "nice cock". I'll choose two winners by the end of the weekend.

Believe it or not, there was more stuff, but it's gone out of my head. *poof!*

Hopefully, in the next day or so I'll have a new cover to share with you. In the meantime...um...nope. It's gone. Gone like the wind. Which is whipping up today along with nearly 70 degree weather and some pollen. I know because I sneezed. And then my brain went white and I prayed for death... or just another Percocet.

XOXO
Sommer
p.s. Oh! Awake is on tonight. That is another thing. Are you watching it? I am and I think it is fantfuckingtabulous. Only I need to do some sort of red band/green band cheat sheet. Or I'm going to end up drooling and weeping trying to keep this shit straight! :)

primal inspiration

Typewriter-macro I can often find inspiration in a single word or a lyric or something seemingly insignificant. So today I had one short underway and I finished it, but thanks to being tired or drugged or possibly both, I need a short fast jolt to get me rolling on my second short story. So I pout out a random scattered request on Facebook and Twitter. Just hit me with random words folks. And you did! Here are some of the words that I got (and they're still a'comin).
luminary
parish
paraphenalia
elusive
marsh
pigment
cupping
sunset
clement
smug
whimsy
oatmeal
peacock
naugahyde*
lascivious
errant
realize
jejune
reconnoiter

*I did end up using naugahyde in a story. That is a word that calls up my growing up memories, so that was fun. Ironically, it came from a friend of mine from high school on Twitter. LOL.

Want to add a word to my list? Put 'em in the comments. Want to use a word from my list? Make sure you tell me how and when and all that jazz. Cause I'm a nosy somebody. :)

working on some...

Female with hands on its panties in B&W Briefs today. Very short things. Tiny little bits of work. But that was only once I cleared the final finel finals off my desk for my very upcoming novel. As in blink and it'll be out. That's how close I cut it for this particular tome. LOL. I can't wait to show off the cover for my nearly-out book. It's a Willsin Rowe cover...so you know what that means. Smoking hot, of course. Beyond that, recovering is coming along nicely. I am ready to drive. And leave the house. And sneeze. You know, normal stuff. Soon...SOON! :) XOXO Sommer

and while I'm lucid

Snag your own copy of FLASHED, Kiki Howell's birthday book. What a deal: her birthday and *you* get a book of flashers penned by some great authors. Somehow, I even ended up in there. Normally, I'd be all organized and link to everyone, but today I'm sort of pill induced goofy, so click the cover and it will take you to the page on Amazon where you can see who's inside and score your gift. :)

It's Monday

and I obviously survived my surgery (wolf whistle). I am still slow and stupid and drugged, but trying to get some work done today. Mostly eating Jell-O, drinking water and taking my stupid making pills as prescribed.

That is the full and exciting update. Thanks to everyone who emailed me and tweeted and facebook etc etc etc.

Now off to try and squeeze some edits in before I doze off like the sex goddess I am.

XOXO

p.s. Today I am part of TRR's event that is giving away lots of good stuff. If you're here due to the anniversary giveaway...hi! If not, you can still register and participate here. You can get a crack at your own good stuff :)

Alrighty, I'm siging off until...

I have no idea. Surgery is tomorrow at 11.30, so give me some good vibes if you can spare 'em. I am oddly, not so freaking out. Yet. I might, I might not, I guess only the next 24 hours will tell.

Boy, I hope my nurse looks like that. But I hope she keeps her ass of sterile stuff until *after* my surgery ;)

Now that my yammering about my bum gall bladder and impending surgery is at an end (hollah! amen! hallelujah! and testify!) I will yammer about something more awesome. Like this. A super 5 star review for The Best of Sommer Marsden from Jade Magazine. Click it! It gets bigger...heh:

And for what it's worth, thanks to all who have listened to me bitch, gripe, worry and all that jazz, offering unending support, humor and good thoughts. Y'all--on my twitter feed, FB lineup and email--are my 'co-workers'. You're who I spend my day with, so thanks for putting up with me. You rock!

See you when the drugs wear off :)
