Blow me a kiss while you're at it...

Goal setting

I don't do 'resolutions'. To me resolution are pressure. Pressure equals feeling constricted. Constriction causes rebellion and then ya know, I'm eating a pound of French Fries drinking straight out of the spigot of a box of wine while doing a 12 hour stint on Twitter before the fourth of January.

Instead, I enjoy the goal. I set and attain goals all the time. The 1k/1hr sprints I do almost every morning are goals. I set earning goals for my writing (so far have reached them every time, knock wood, throw salt to quote Alison Tyler). I set goals to get into certain books. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes not, but I set them and I give it my best.

My goal from 2012 of writing in that leather book every day...yeah, not so much. But did I write in it? Yes, I did. Do I find I am not a journal every day kind of girl? Yes, I did! I find my blog and my Twitter stream are often my 'journal'. The leather book I keep is for the big guns, the important stuff, so if it takes me a few years to fill it up...so be it.

Some goals I've started early because my heart wanted to. I'm still including them below because the goal will be to to continue my momentum. Here goes.

13 Goals for '13:

1. Do the big scary thing. I'll explain this if I ever do it. Heh ;)
2. Yoga (Have already started and about 2.5 weeks in I am doing stuff I couldn't do when I first found my way back to it.)
3. Eat better (Have already started this one too and if you have a similar goal, I'm doing http://www.myfitnesspal.com )
4. More time like the holiday time I just spent. Which means: more down time, more off line time, more sanity.
5. Help the fat wiener be less fat. We love him and we want him around a looooooong time. Need to fix the fact that he's resembling a hamburger more than a hot dog.
6. Breathe (I forget to do it all the damn time).
7. More YA writing challenges with girl child. We've done two so far and have one cooking. They are a great way to share a challenge with my minion and write outside my comfort zone.
8. Clean house (get rid of stuff we don't need)
9. Paint my bedroom (finally!!!)
10. Meet more writers. In person. If I can manage.
11. More time with the family. Not just the four of us here. I mean the extended family. I'm a lone wolf and sometimes I forget there's a whole bunch of people who love me that I love in return.
12. Stop worrying so much. About everything I say, who likes me, who doesn't, what so and so thinks of what I said/wore/ate/wrote etc. About bullshit on Twitter and Facebook and who's doing what or has managed something I have not. Funny how certain things do not matter a lick to me until someone does them and I realize I have not. It's stupid. I am too fucking old to worry about it. I've earned the right to be who I am. Time to embrace it.
13. Watch the dough, Joe. I got a bit trigger happy with it this year (because it feels good to earn money, you know?) but I need to be more mature...Hmph. :/

That's it! I'm going to do my level best to do all that stuff up there. If you notice, I did not put writing goals because those always remain the same. Write, write, write. Every day if possible. Unless you go nuts, then take a break. But not too long!

If you're so inclined, feel free to post your goals in my comment section. Happy New Year! I'm off to get ready to watch some movies, eat a ton of food and drink a bit of wine. Have a blessed and safe night. Kiss someone you love at midnight. And blow me a kiss while you're at it ;)

Just for fun: FIRST UNAPOLOGETIC FICTION WRITING CHALLENGE EVAH!

Twinkling christmas lights

I've been talking on Facebook and Twitter about the writing challenges I've been doing with girl child (she of the 60,000 words in 18 days this year for NaNoWriMo).

First challenge was a YA appropriate Christmas story. I challenged her to a Christmas tale (which she did not want to do). She counter challenged that I join her but I (the dirty word writer) had to write a story YA appropriate (because she's evil). Hmph.

But we had do much fun!

Then we asked boy child to come up with a challenge for us both. He's diabolical so his was: Paranormal Christmas story told from the 1st person POV of Santa.

Gasp!

But we did it. I finished this morning. A lot of folks have remarked on my tweets/updates about how fun it sounds so...HERE'S WHERE YOU COME IN!

The FIRST UNAPOLOGETIC FICTION WRITING CHALLENGE EVAH!

Here's what you do. Use the six words below in a story. The story can be as long or as short as you like. From flash fiction to...the great American novel if you're crazy enough. Post your work on your blog (or somewhere visible online) with a link to this blog. Then come and leave a link to your work in this here comment section below. You have four days!

Words: tinsel, balls, carpet, fuzzy, wind, firetruck

I was going to offer a prize, but a prize is pressure. I want this to be for fun. Like a writing exercise. So I'm still debating if there should be a prize. (Feel free to weigh in, lol)

I know it's an insane time of year to start this, but I find that stressful times like the holidays are when I need some inspiration and a quick burst of writing and creativity the most.

I hope to see a wee little link from you in my comments section before by 12/21 (ya know, if the world doesn't end).

Good luck!

Thinking Christmas in June by Lucy Felthouse

My latest release has been in the pipeline for quite some time. Since very early this year, in fact. I'm part of the Wickedly Sexy Writers group, and one of the members floated an idea—would we all like to work on a group project, whereby we all take one of Santa's reindeer, make them into shifters and write erotic romances about them? I thought it was a great idea and jumped on board straight away. We made some plans together and aimed to have our stories submitted to the chosen publisher during June.

That presented me with a peculiar problem. I'd never written a Christmas/winter themed story, much less in June. I live in the UK, and June wasn't exactly bikini weather, but I still wondered how I would conjure up thoughts of snow, ice and Christmas cheer and work it into a story.

I needn't have worried. The more I thought about my story, the more I figured it would actually make sense to set it after Christmas. I won't say why, because it'll ruin the story for you, but that's what I did. The tale begins in early January—which actually, in the UK, is more likely to get snow and ice than Christmas time is! Let's just say I don't place any bets that we'll have a white Christmas.
Once I'd figured that part out, the rest actually came pretty easily. There are elements of the truth woven into my tale—living in a cul-de-sac which has a slight incline, vans getting stuck trying to get out of the road, and that there's a reindeer shifter living on my street. Okay, maybe not that last one. Or maybe? Who knows?

So... my first Christmas story isn't strictly a Christmas story. It's cold, snowy and icy, and it contains Santa and a reindeer called Cupid... but that's as close as it gets. My tale is much more about the erotic romance, and I hope you enjoy it ;)

*****

As a postman by day, and one of Santa’s reindeer on a single very special night, Cassius Cupid eats, sleeps, and breathes deliveries. He doesn’t mind, but sometimes wishes that someone would send him something more exciting than bills and junk mail.

One cold January morning, Cassius gets his wish. A young woman arrives with a parcel. Turns out it’s for his housemate – but Cassius doesn’t care. All he’s interested in is Carina – the beautiful female courier.
Has Cupid finally met his match?

The weird things...

Typewriter
I do for inspiration.

Look at Flickr. In my defense, I usually end up in there looking for a picture I'm free to use on my blog. But dude, you'd be amazed at what comes up on searches. I have to monitor Flickr time once I hop over there because I can quickly become lost in a sea of random strangers' photos. I've gotten some amazing ideas.

Eavesdrop. "So she says to him...she says, you are not putting that in my ass..." Yep. I was always, always an avid people watcher back in the day in Ocean City, Maryland. Even at the mall! But my favorite thing ever is to listen in on people if I can manage. I have the hearing of a dog, by the way. Even the best whisperer is no match for my ears!

Watch bad movies. Just this year there's been a sea of Gingerdead Man, the Puppet Master series, SyFy movies of the week (Hey! The 12 Disasters of Christmas was pretty awesome) etc. Nothing gets my mind going faster than a good (meaning bad) B movie.

Read outside my genre. Right now I'm on a horror and YA kick. I blew through Vacation and Home (both by Matthew J. Costello) and then read Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce upon the recommendation of my own in-house voracious reader, Girl Child. Then I managed to snag a book from Paperback Swap and it's...another Matthew J. Costello read, Beneath Still Waters. In the mix of books I also have several copies of Cemetery Dance Magazine spread out through the house. I used to get CD as a subscription and am considering it again.

Lately, a new one is watch the National Geographic channel. Doomsday Preppers, Alaska State Troopers, etc. All good brain bubble gum to chew over and use as it strikes my fancy.

I've also added yoga and learning the ukulele. It has zero to do with writing and...that's the point! I need time to step away from the magic box and the people in my head and connect with my own damn self. So, nothing says me-time like contorting oneself in painful positions and then adding insult to injury by massacring a song called Strum-a-thon!

Finally, I simply pay attention to my family. My kids (we talk a LOT in this house), the man, my mother, my mother-in-law...hell, anyone I come in contact with in person on a regular basis (which isn't much *snort*. I'm a bit of a hermit. Hermit's Unit! to quote the 10th Doctor) can be fodder for writing. They're walking, talking bags of pure inspirational gold.

How 'bout you? Any good ideas to find inspiration I can steal? I mean adopt!

And now from the dirty book cabinet...

It's time to make a little room in the dirty book cabinet for upcoming 2013 extra contributor copies. So I need to clear some space. Right now I'm running a paperback copy giveaway on my Facebook author page. Just go to http://facebook.com/sommermarsden and LIKE me. Then find the giveaway in my statuses and leave me a comment telling me what your number one Christmas wish is this year (or holiday wish). If you already LIKE me, just leave me a comment. In a while I'll draw from the comments and send the winner a list of book titles s/he can choose from.

Easy squeezy!

Hope to see your wish soon :)

But somewhere in there I was also a catering assistant, deli worker, cocktail waitress, grocery store cashier, lipstick tester...

Lipstick Stains

I somehow hosed up the dates on this. I had it in my calendar as today (the 12th) but it was yesterday. So...I'm posting early today because yesterday already had a post and [fill in coffee here].

Check out this interview with me, complete with lightning round (LOL!), by Hunter S. Jones. Her introduction is beyond flattering. It's the only way to describe it. I'm counting this as part of the Lion Hearted blog tour, so a comment will earn you a chance at the $10 gift certificate to All Romance Ebooks and the Cthulhu goodies! After this I think there's one more stop and then I'll use the magic number generator to choose a winner!

Happy hump day, y'all. And happy 12-12-12. Last triple digit day in my life time. Unless I freeze my noggin and try to be reanimated later which...yeah. That's not gonna happen.

Sexy Six Hundred NSFW

Colorful bathroom with awesome clawfoot tub.

I've been running little snippets of books on Twitter and Facebook this week. I like to section out a single line that makes me happy and post it. Today, I carved out a little (very NSFW!) snippet from Boys Next Door to post on my blog. Something to keep you warm...now that some cold weather is finally moving back in!

Anyone freaking out about Christmas yet? Or are all of you cool customers? I have moments. Calm. Freak out. Calm. Freak out. Then usually I have a wine moment. Wine works.

He was lounging in my doorway with a glass of wine. Looking yummy.

‘Hand it over,’ I said, my voice soft. But the bathroom amplified it and I started at how loud I sounded.
Deke handed me the wine and I took a swig before setting it on the back of the sink.

‘Now yours.’ I put my hand out.

He played like he was protecting his glass. ‘Greedy girl. You have your own.’

I eyed him up. Dark wash jeans, a bit baggy, but just baggy enough to show off the fine form underneath. A dark-blue pullover that zipped at the neck. It had a very thin line of taupe along the neck and somehow it added to the sexy effect. I wanted to touch the light knit, unzip the zipper, lay him out and ride him hard.

I swallowed and we both heard my throat click. ‘Give it to me.’

He did. I put it on the sink next to mine and grabbed the hem of his pullover, yanking it hard enough to stretch it some before he stepped in toward me and took me in his arms. His skin was warm under my hands when I shoved them beneath the fabric. The ridges and planes of his belly danced under my fingers when I stroked him. I pushed them higher, stroking his pecs and then thumbing his nipples until he hummed.

‘I thought we were going to fuck like monkeys after the letters,’ he said. Not touching me. Just staring me down with those espresso-coloured eyes.

‘I decided to change that round a little bit.’

That was all he needed to pull my nice soft T-shirt back over my head. My wet hair brushed my back and he got down on his knees to kiss my belly button, my hipbone, my stomach. ‘Did you?’

‘I did. And you know, I want you to do me in here,’ I said, touching his hair with my fingertips. Watching the almost too long waves ripple under my stroking hand.

‘You do?’ he said, but it was a knowing, teasing tone. ‘Why is that?’

My yoga pants surrendered to his seeking hands and I shimmied my hips like a belly dancer for him as he pushed them low and finally off. When his mouth found me, I gasped, the sound bouncing around the small black and white room. I smiled.

His tongue slid along my slit, smothered my clit, sucked at me and I sighed, ‘I like the acoustics.’

‘You do, do you?’ His tongue snaked over me again and he nudged the hard knot of my clit over and over again until I felt the first tentative twinge of release. I moved to meet his mouth, relishing the alternating scrape and slide of his teeth over my nether lips. The tender skin sang with every single stroke of his tongue.

‘I do. I think . . . I think –’ My breath was wild in my lungs and I felt my thighs shaking as he pushed them just a bit farther apart.

‘What do you think, Farrell?’

‘I think –’

His fingers caressed my inner thighs and cool chills raced along my skin. Then Deke pushed his fingers into me, testing me, sucking my clit at the same time so I gave a sharp cry and came hard, anchoring myself with my fingers twisted in his hair.

‘I think it will sound awesome when I come.’ Finally the words came but I was already dropping to my knees and helping him with his clothes.

‘Condom?’

Story Behind the Story: Kissa Starling

Diabetes runs in my family. My grandfather died from it and my brother currently has it. I found out recently that my sister-in-law has diabetes and she is pregnant. It is such a scary disease. Eating healthy is hard for anyone, but when your life depends on it, it's so important to keep track of every single thing you consume, and that is a task within itself. This disease doesn't affect everyone the same. I certainly feel for all who have to live with diabetes on a daily basis. Together, we can fund diabetes research.

About the author:

Kissa Starling began writing in a diary as a young girl. In school she passed notes and penned short poems to pass around the classroom. In fifth grade she wrote an award winning speech that earned her a title and cold hard cash. During all of this she still found time to chase boys on the playground!

Her adult writing evolved into a mixture of sugar and spice that begs to be let out. She sets aside time each day to write, read, and spend time with her family in the southern state of Georgia. Visit www.kissastarling.com to learn more.

She currently writes for Red Rose Publishing, Cleis Press, Moonflower Press, Atria Books, Sapphire Publishing and Renaissance E-Books.

Kissa's  most current work is Clarissa, Book One in the Celtic Destinies Series. Blurb:

Reuniting ghost lovers proves to be the easy task. How will she ever find her own true destiny?

Clarissa has traveled halfway around the world to Scotland hoping to escape her  sordid past and begin anew. What she finds is two unruly children, a single father who travels, a elderly cook and a couple of ghosts who demand to be reunited. It's hard to figure out who plans to give her the most trouble- the children or the ghost of a kind long since passed. Will it all be worth it in the end and what must Clarissa do to obtain her own happiness?

Snogs with Santa, Ho, ho, ho!

I'm taking part of the 9th day of Blissemas and doing Victoria Blisse's Sunday Snog. Theme this week is snogs with Santa. I have the perfect snog! Here's a little bit from my story I Can Stuff Your Stocking, one of two stories in Kinky for Christmas.

An oldie but a hottie.

From I Can Stuff Your Stocking

“Don‟t just think you can get me wherever and have your way with me.” She was sputtering. And had she really said have your way with me? She had.

“Oh, can‟t I? I felt you squirming.” He spun her quickly and pinned her to the stark white wall in the narrow corridor. Her ex-husband sniffed up her throat, bit her earlobe. When she wiggled under him, he kissed her.

Gently at first and then rougher so that she moaned. He knew her inside and out. He knew what buttons to push, and right then that seemed fine with her.

“Where is that sleigh?” she asked, running her fingers over his red furry pants. His hard-on felt enormous, and she realized it had been a hundred years since she had had sex. Or it felt like it.

“Your carriage awaits, little girl.” He caught her up under his arm like he was carrying a football. It usually annoyed her when he did that, unless it was turning her on because he was playing caveman. Right then, she was so turned on she felt the cotton crotch of her jolly red panties grow moist.

“Be careful with me.”

“Oh, I will. Right up until I toss you into the backseat and fuck you 'til you scream,” he growled.
Prudence felt her stomach dip and her head spin but she laughed. “You sweet talker, you.”

“Ho, ho, ho!” Jack said softly.

“Who you calling a ho?” she asked, and then he was the one to laugh.

Jack tossed her into the back of his van. He had driven his work vehicle to the moonlighting job. She knew the van. This wouldn't be their first time in his big gutted white behemoth.

Paint cans and drop cloths lay strewn around her, but they were invisible to her as Jack pushed at her black velvet skirt. He bared her hose and pulled them down with his teeth. “Is it okay to say I have been having wet dreams about my ex-wife?” he asked, almost conversationally as he pulled her panties down, too. “About fucking you. How warm you are inside and how wet. Tight and ready. How you make that crazy noise when you come really hard.” All the while he was blowing his warm breath on her clit and touching her wet slit with his fingertips. He kissed her inner thighs and Prudence thought she would die right here, panties around her knees in a clunker of a painting van.

Sh! I'm a naughty elf...

Actually...Go ahead and shout it from the roof tops if you like. I don't mind spreading some naughty cheer.

I’m part of the Sh! Christmas Pleasure Hunt (http://sex-toys-blog.co.uk). All you need to know is right here at the Sh! intro post. Your goal is to sleuth out some words, visit some wonderful sites and maybe get your hot little hands on a goodie bag of happiness provided by Sh!

Speaking of happiness, I figured I'd share my top five favorite things to do during the holidays (besides the obvious naughty stuff, that's a given).

1. Bake cookies
2. Watch Christmas Vacation (it never gets old)
3. Sit in the dark with a glass of wine and look at the tree
4. Have family and friends over to celebrate
5. Take the time to  just be. Be still. Be grateful. Be silent. Be with my family. Be a bit less type A than I normally am (this part, FYI, usually hits the day after Christmas. Heh.)

Once you've found my *cough* so very cleverly hidden word, you can move along to the holly-jolly authors who are also participating today: Janine Ashbless and Tamsin Flowers . Once you've done that make sure you visit tomorrow's authors for the next set of words!  You'll be paying a visit to Tabitha Rayne, Lily Harlem, and Kay Jaybee!

Good luck! And don't forget to check back on the Sh! site later this month for some free erotica. Including a Christmas tale by yours truly. Being naughty has its perks.

Some pimpage and an excerpt NSFW

light

I realized I have yet to give you a yummy little taste of any of my Coupling Two stories. Below you will find a little sample. But that's just a taste, there's so much more in this sexy, stunning book. Some of the stories I received made me felt like they were presents just for me from the writers involved. From raunchy to racy to sweet and sultry. I hope you'll check us out this holiday season. I think it'd be a real good way to stay warm with someone you love. *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

from EVIL STREAK (Coupling 2: More Filthy Erotica for Couples)
By Sommer Marsden
I was primping and Elliot was digging for cufflinks. Who the hell wears cufflinks anymore, you ask? My man. That’s who.
“I told your mother you’d come and meet her new beau this weekend,” I said, chewing my lip to keep from laughing.
He stilled and my pulse picked up. His fingers that had been tickling through his nightstand debris stopped and he looked up at me. His cool green eyes were curious and starting to darken a bit with approaching annoyance. “You what?”
“She calls me all the time!” I said, trying not to smile. I knew it was cruel, but I’d done it anyway. A bit of a payback for his constant overtime as of late. I felt neglected and lonely and my revenge had been to toss him to his mom and her new boyfriend Bob like tossing a wounded antelope to a particularly hungry lion.
“So?” He started to move his hands again, but I felt him watching me.
“So, why doesn’t she call you and ask you to meet Bob? Bob who boats, Bob who golfs, Bob who collects vintage beer cans.” I put my earrings in, spritzed myself with perfume and straightened my necklace.
When I turned to him, he was watching me. Fiercely. Now I felt like the antelope.
“So you tell her that. Mother June, call Elliot yourself.”
“Mother June,” I snorted. “What is this, the fifties?”
He almost smiled.
“Now you ruined my plans for the weekend,” he said. Something in his voice made me hesitate.
“What do you mean?”
Elliot shrugged. “Nothing. Can you help me, Lex?”
He called me Lex instead of Alexis, he couldn’t be too mad.
“What are we looking for?” I hovered over the drawer and sighed when his hand came up to stroke me behind my knee. His hand whispered across my nylons and the touch was perfect. Not too hard, not too soft. Not too innocent but not too rough.
“The small TARDIS cufflinks,” he said, grinning.
“God. The Doctor at dinner, even,” I said, but I laughed. “I don’t see them…”
“Here, sit. Maybe I left them in the bathroom.”
Elliott stood and I sat, pushing around the stuff in his top dresser drawer. Antacids, pens, a small travel packet of aspirin, lube, a pair of fur lined handcuffs…I laughed at that and wondered where the plain steel pair was. I pushed back a book on cocktails, a cigar catalog and a pair of nail clippers. No cufflinks.
I felt him take my hand, and I smiled. Until I felt him take the other and heard the missing plain steel cuffs make their clinky ratcheting sound. “Elliott!” I yelped.
His lips were pressed in a tight line and in his eyes danced a glimmer of amusement. But there was also annoyance there, I wasn’t so self delusional as to miss that. “You ruined my plans,” he said again, tsking softly and shaking his head.
I watched him pull off his tie and my mouth opened and closed on its own. “I…what…Elliot!”
“I know I’ve been working a lot lately,” he said. He grabbed the handcuffs by the short bit of connecting chain and raised my arms up. The motion made my breasts jut out and press fully into the black bodice of my dress. His eyes danced over the modest but enticing bit of cleavage there. He tugged and I watched transfixed, my normally big mouth not moving a bit.
Elliot stretched my arms back just a hair more and hooked my cuffed hands over the knob of our bedpost. Gravity and the fact that the bedpost was just a bit higher than my arms meant I was stuck like this until he let me out. I felt instantly claustrophobic and…wet. A thrill coursed through the center of me and moisture pooled in my fancy silk panties. I’d dressed up to go out and now I was tethered to my own bed.
“Well…you have,” he said. I was mortified to find that my eyes were tearing up.
Elliot studied me and nodded once, briskly. “I’m sorry. I had planned, this weekend, to keep you in bed for the duration. Eating and lounging and reading the paper.” He idly pushed my bodice down just a bit and pulled my breast free so it rested on the crushed, bunched up fabric. His thumb swept back and forth over my tender pink nipple and I watched, transfixed, as it pebbled, puckered, and beaded up into a knot under his soft touch. It was like a magic trick and if it weren’t for the spears of pleasure working their way under my skin and inching down to settle between my thighs, I’d wonder if he was actually touching me. It felt more like being mesmerized by a trick of the eye.
“Oh,” I said. Because it was the most intelligent thing I could think to say.
“I was going to touch you,” Elliot said, his voice a soft, sensual caress. The other breast was positioned to his liking and he proceeded to tease that nipple to attention as well.
My pulse was now pounding in my chest, my temples, my throat…my cunt.
“And taste you…” Elliot squatted and quickly—with his deft surgeon hands—shimmied the skirt of my dress up my thighs and over my hips. Above my thigh high stockings my bare thighs prickled with goose bumps.
“And fuck you,” he said, leaning in to place a chaste kiss right on the gusset of my black panties.
My breath caught and I noticed the sting and ache in my shoulders. But more than that, I noticed the thump and bang of arousal in my pussy. Elliot pinned me with his gaze, his bright green eyes brilliant and amused. He slid a single finger under the elastic of my panties and found the center of me, my wetness. He slid that finger in slow and easy, never looking away from me. When I tried to swallow, my throat clicked. I realized I was holding my breath.
His finger curled inside of me, triggering a cascade of pleasant spasms in my pussy. I tried to move against his hand but he withdrew his finger and pressed the slick digit to my clitoris. I whimpered.
“But now,” he sighed, sitting back on our pristine white carpet. “I have to meet Bob.”

I've been MIA for a few days...

Gasp! I told you I was trying to take December easy :) And I actually am! I am very proud of myself.

What I've been doing:

Reading, cleaning, watching Christmas shows (the oldies!), walking, doing Advent fun for my kids, learning some ukulele skills (heh), writing--wait for it--a YA paranormal Christmas story. It was inspired by none other than a star baby that one (awesome and lovely) Bronwyn Green made for me and sent to me!

It is my first Young Adult story ever and I'm actually very, very happy with it. It started with girl child saying she wanted to write but didn't know what. I said, write a Christmas story. She said, no, I don't want to do a Christmas story. I said, well that is the challenge. She said, you do it too, then. I said, fine! I figured I'd write a short dirty story to put up for free on my blog. She said, a short YA Christmas story. I said, what?!?! She said, that is the challenge.

Hmph.

But I did it and I'm very happy with it (and myself).

So, that's pretty much it. You're up to speed. Tonight is Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. All part of my commitment to a laid back, retro holiday season. After that is Doomsday Preppers. All part of my commitment to...um...be prepared for the end of the world? Anyway, that's my night :)

So..what have *you* been up to? Eh?

XOXO

Necessity is the mother of invention...[and a WINNER!]

When it came time to put my money where my mouth was after claiming the six o'clock spot in Morning, Noon and Night, it was easy to find inspiration. They say necessity is the mother of invention. The mother[fill in the rest] we call life with children has often necessitated loads of creativity and enough stealth to qualify a person to be a spy.

So, often the after dinner hour is when the man and I were (are) able to claim some adult alone time. Just pondering many past scenarios brought "The After Dinner Hour" to life. Ta and da! Too much info? Just because now if you see me tweet about dinner you may ponder whether or not dessert included zee seks? Oh well! This will soothe your discomfort:

The winner of Alison Tyler's MNN blog hop giveaway of 25 books is...[grand Vanna White flourish]

SWANNIE!

*balloons* *confetti* *cheering*

Congrats to Swannie and big fat thanks to everyone who traveled along and participated. I just have one more thing to say: BUY THE BOOK. It's smoking hot. ;)

p.s. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the wonderful birthday wishes all over yesterday. My inbox, twitter, Facebook (they all came via inbox or another update because I found I had inadvertently clicked the thing to not allow people to post to my page--but that didn't stop you!). You are all too kind and me feel so grateful. xoxo
