Yeah so, I'm making noises only dogs and dolphins can hear...

Because my beautiful, beautiful novel Restricted Release that I feel like I've waited forever to see released is up on the Ellora's Cave website in the coming soon section. That's right, baby. I am coming soon. I can't wait!

This book has been two years in the making. That is way slow for me, but I had a period where I simply sat on it (not literally, mind you) unsure of what to do with it. Then I was assigned a new editor at EC and for some reason it seemed right to send it to her. And tada! I did. And we fell in love. We danced and we did cartwheels and we...okay, so we got along really well is my point.

Very excited to see this book heading out into the world for people to read soon. And yes, I cannnot wait until it has a proper cover. But until then, I shall show off its fetching blurb.

{insert high pitched squeaky noise of excitement here}

You can add me to your wish list whenever you like. Like...um...now! :)

Restricted Release by Sommer Marsden

Clara is the recovering anorexic who’s nearly become a shut-in after the end of her emotionally abusive marriage.

Matt is the new boy next door. Graphic artist, nice guy, funny…accepting of Clara.  She wants him, he wants her—but Clara is afraid.

Nadia is the stand-in—Matt’s idea, Clara’s challenge to accept. A longtime friend of Matt’s, she’s a sexual surrogate intended to guide Clara until she’s not afraid of Matt’s desire for her or hers for him. Twosomes become threesomes, watching becomes touching and lust becomes love.

When Matt moved in next door, lust was the last thing Clara expected. Two lovers never crossed her mind. And the need to make a choice was something she thought she’d never encounter. But she’s bolder now, healing, and everything has changed. And a choice must be made, no matter how hard.

Inside scoop: Clara’s healing includes a hot woman who wants to show her how desirable she is and f/m/f menag├ęs.

Playing hooky...

is good for the soul. Not total hooky, mind you. Still up early and running to treatment, but the last two afternoons after that and my morning wordage I tossed boy child and girl child in the car and off we went. To that lovely pool under a lovely sky on two lovely days. July days in Baltimore are usually about as fun as being wrapped in a wet wool blanket. So the weather was a treat. The pool was a treat. The hooky was a treat. Sitting with my kids and talking and reading some and floating some with 98 Rock on the radio...treat.

I promise to give you a non-rambling blog soon. But in the meantime, go to the post below if you want to enter my full-dirty-bookshelf contest. You could win a book and one of the three books to be given away will contain a supah sekrit gift card tucked inside. For Barnes and Noble. A book that holds a card for...more books! It's like magic :)

Happy Friday.

A Super Excited I-Actually-Did-It Sommer-time Giveaway

In the way back machine (end of 2005) I said to myself, "Self, I want to focus on getting into print." So that was the year I focused on wedging my foot in the door to print. Here is my bookshelf...

This year, just a few weeks ago, I filled that last shelf. The bookshelf was full, which was my goal. It holds all the print anthologies I'm in and copies of all my books that are available in print. So even I was...Wow. I did it. And we bought a new bookshelf for me to start filling. (That one is vintage, baby. It was my grandmother's).

To celebrate actually filling that thing, (I never thought I would) I'm giving away a few of these!

If you can't read them choices are Hard Lessons, Lucky 13, Base Nature, Gritty: Rough Erotic Fiction, Learning to Drown, Big Bad, Long Lost, The Best of Sommer Marsden, The Zombie Exterminators, Angry Sex and Coupling Two. Winners choose the book they'd like to receive.

What do you have to do? Just leave a comment here in the comment section below. Nothing spectacular. Hi, will do. Whatever you like. (There are more ways, keep reading). Make sure you leave your email address as well so I can contact you. I'll send out books after the giveaway time has passed (Leaving it up until August 13, 2013). Three winners will be chosen. One of the books mailed out will have a $20 Barnes and Noble gift card tucked inside. I'll let my kids randomly pick a number between 1 and 3 to choose.

How else to enter? Follow me on Twitter if you don't (let me know in the comments), follow me on Facebook or Pinterest or Goodreads. Or all four! (Each follow counts as an entry. Just make sure to tell me in the comments where you've followed me). And finally, RT this giveaway on any of the sites (Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest) and that counts as an entry too (again, make sure to tell me!).

That's it. This is something I've been looking forward to for a long time. Filling that shelf. Fingers crossed that I get to fill a whole new one now. :)

Blindfolded Book Reviews: Girl Fever edited by Sacchi Green

Oh, I'm at it again. Last night I shut my eyes and poked the shelf. Now that's not nearly as dirty as it sounds. If Blindfolded Book Reviews is new to you, HERE are the rules.

This week's lucky poked book is Girl Fever: 69 Stories of Sudden Sex for Lesbians (another Cleis volume, thank you very much) edited by Sacchi Green. The lucky table of contents poke was Taste of My Woman by Giselle Renarde. Which was awesome because it's always fun to poke Giselle.

Let me nutshell the story:

Taste of My Woman is all about longing and needing to get off and missing your woman and yes...chocolate. This super short story takes place entirely over the phone and yet manages to evoke all the kinky, lovely, yummy images and cravings that a person-to-person story would. There's even a nibble of getting caught in the act in there for fun. So um...whew. Is it hot in here? I think my chocolate melted...

There ya go. Just enough to make you feverish to get your hands on this hot little book. It's so cute, might I say, but packed with 69 short stories of lesbian love. Edited by Sacchi Green who always puts together magical anthologies. You can't go wrong.

Now seriously. Someone get me some more chocolate. And a phone...

If you like to rifle pages and use bookmarks...

This is your lucky day! My Coming Together: Treasures collection is now in print. Benefits PanCan.org and like all Coming Together volumes, the print books are a steal. $9.50 for a trade paperback um...steal! And all to benefit charity.

My volume includes 13 tales (some of them novellas) so you'll definitely get a lot of bang for your buck and your bucks will all go to a very good cause.

So why are you still here? Go forth and purchase.

Thank you and big fat kisses.

So I've mentioned more than once that 13 is my lucky number...

If I recall, I was even stoked about this year being 2013. And yet...it never...occurred to me to post my first book ever all by myself "Lucky 13".

That's a big fat duh, isn't it? ;)

Now that our year is officially more than half over, it is finally occurring to me. Here you go. A flashback. Is The Doctor here? This is true time travel...my first book ever. Put out in 2009. Man, that seems like eons ago, to be honest:

Lucky Thirteen by Sommer Marsden

Couples, three ways, hook-ups, masturbation that might end in death - today’s sex scene is anything but boring. From a man who meets his fantasy woman for some “light bondage” to the escapades of a sex toy selling sexpert. It’s all here and then some.

Sommer Marsden has assembled some of her finest. A three way with the boss from hell, a hook up that’s only supposed to last one night but turns into so much more. Featuring some of the author’s favorites such as: She Looked Good In Ribbons, Underpass and Pause - Lucky 13 brings you a baker’s dozen of filthy tales to satisfy every naughty urge.

And a few of the kind words spoken about my virgin voyage:

"Baby, this one is hot, hot, hot!(A) sizzling collection of stories-filled with all the wholesome goodness that erotica has to offer. There are ample descriptions of emotions and sensations that make the graphic sex scenes more vivid for the best vicarious joyride. There are also some unexpectedly tender and even heartwarming moments in the more romantic stories. All in all, this one is too much of a good thing and I'm giving this one two thumbs up." -MRS. GIGGLES - 90/100!

"Ms. Marsden truly brings an exquisite collection of erotica to the table with Lucky 13. All thirteen stories left this reader breathless and wanting more..." -Amanda at Manic Readers, 4/5 STARS!

"Sommer Marsden-s skill as an author is in her ability to depict living breathing human beings and make them interesting, exciting and entertaining. The fact that she chooses to write in the erotic genre means that we lucky readers get to see these vibrant individuals enjoying the complexities of a passionate and carnal existence. If you enjoy well written erotica, and you want to get lucky with your choice of reading material, it-s a safe bet to pick Lucky 13." - Ashley Lister, Erotica Revealed

"Lucky 13: Thirteen Tales of Getting Lucky Author Sommer Marsden is a writer I consider to be one of the top storytellers in the erotica genre, and she-s just getting started. She is one I-m watching closely. This collection is 13 of her hits, and highly recommended" - Violet Blue, author

Ta and da. Have a lovely weekend. I hope to come back with news of a GIVEAWAY very soon. Once I can get my act together. It's been a whirlwind week.

Indie Shout Out

I'm reading a lot right now. A lot. I have been, for the last several years, a much slower reader than I am accustomed to. I used to read a few books a week and be hungry for more. But when you write all day, every day, you get to a point where your head is full of words. If you're like me, that only leaves X amount of space to read and absorb what you're reading.

Until what's going on now with the man occurred. Now I read in waiting rooms, I read in line at the pharmacy, I read more in the evening--it is my great escape--and I find myself reading all kinds of stuff.

Somewhere along the way I picked up Deb Baker. I discovered it last week on my Nook. I've been reading her first Gertie Johnson book in the waiting room at radiology oncology. Must say, I love it. It's fun, it's a cozy, there's mystery and humor and some wonderfully fun characters. So, I'm giving Gertie and her creator Deb Baker a shout out today. You'll probably seem more of these as we wend our way through the long weeks of treatment. I love to pass on a thumbs up for any book that's helped me escape and pass the time.

If cozy mysteries are your cup of tea and you have a few spare bucks, go grab the four pack. I think it's a whopping $7.99 for four books. That's not even one traditional paperback nowadays. Support indie writers. Rock on.

Over and out,

it all starts with a kiss...Sunday Snog

I always plead my case for Victoria Blisse's Sunday Snog, don't I? It starts with a kiss...so ya know, it counts. And this week is no different. A little nibble from one of my favorite novels, Calendar Girl. Probably a fave because I made myself laugh out loud so many times while writing it. I always consider that a success. Though in my family we call laughing at your own jokes "self humor". Heh.

Ta and da. Have a lovely Sunday. For more snogs to go VB's site and peruse.

From Calendar Girl by Sommer Marsden

It had gotten hot and heavy fast with Alan and I. He was all the normal, calm, non-polished, big lug man that Stefan hadn’t been. Stefan had been soft spoken and in control. Very self assured, very in control. Alan had a big booming voice and an easy nature, and really, you just wanted to hug him after the first 30 seconds of knowing him.
For our first date we went to Fisherman’s Fancy, a small local eatery where they served the best hush puppies and fried fish. Some cold beer, a lot of flirting and some stolen kisses.
‘So your brother is gay and he liked me?’
‘I think he still does.’ We’d spoken on the phone a few times, Alan and I, and his voice did weird things to my insides. It was a deep, dark voice that almost made you feel dirty. Like listening to him say filthy things would be good. His hand slid a bit higher up my thigh and I knew I had to decide. First date. Fuck him or not?
‘That’s nice. He’s a nice guy. Things like that don’t bother me. People are people, right?’ He laughed, leaned in, kissed me with his soft lips. ‘That was a song, right?’
‘Depeche Mode,’ I said, letting his tongue rim my lips before opening for him to kiss me harder. That was it, I’d sleep with him. He didn’t care that my gay brother wanted to hump him like a horny monkey. That sealed his adorableness for me.
‘Right. I remember now.’ He started to hum even as he kissed me and the vibration of it worked through my chest, down into my belly, lower still to rumble softly in my pussy.
‘Take me home,’ I said, sliding my hand high on his thigh, letting the tips of my fingers graze the hard cock secured in his khakis.
‘Christ,’ Alan said more to himself than to me. He raised his finger at the waiter in the universal ‘cheque please’ signal. ‘Are you sure?’
The fact that he even double checked made me want him that much more. ‘I am so sure I could burst into flames,’ I said, and leaned in nipping his throat with my teeth while the waiter finished our cheque. His cock was hard and long under my hand and I was feeling rather excited to see it up close and personal. It felt different than Stefan’s and Stefan’s had been way different than Drake’s. Before my husband, I’d only been with one other guy and his had been ... well, his had been unfortunate. This did not feel unfortunate.
‘While you take care of that, I have to powder my nose,’ I said. I didn’t really have to powder my nose. I wanted to make sure my panties were straight and my stockings looked good and that I didn’t have any toilet paper stuck to my naughty bits or God forbid, my dress. My cell rang in the short, dark hall to the bathroom.
‘Hello?’ I whispered.
‘Where are you?’ Jeffrey whispered back. Why was he whispering too? I told him. ‘Ah, shama-lama-ding-dong!’ he cried and I rolled my eyes. I knew where this was going. ‘You will have hot, mad, insane monkey sex with this man before the evening is through,’ Jeffrey said in his best fake psychic voice.
‘No shit, Sherlock,’ I hissed, pushing into the rest room. An elderly woman with hair dyed the colour of a brand new penny looked up, alarmed. Then she frowned at me. I smiled and gave her a pinky wave while Jeffrey yammered. ‘He’s into something dirty. Kinky, dirty fun is what he wants from you. Mark my words. He’s got something up his sleeve. OK, so I’m lying. It’s in his nightstand.’ He laughed at his own joke and I checked myself in the full length mirror.
‘What man doesn’t?’ I growled.
‘True, but I sense something that will make even you, my lovely Merritt, go hmm.’
‘Mark my words. Now I’m off to take your brother to the Pink Elephant.’
‘What?’ I yelped and penny-head gave me another glare while she ran a hot pink lipstick over her thin mouth.
‘We’re going to–’
‘No. Diddling. My. Brother,’ I managed.
Miss red hair, pink lips yelped and scurried out of the ladies’ room like whatever I had was catching.
Jeffrey cackled madly and tsked. ‘Merritt, do not be that way. Honey, he’s your brother. Which makes him nearly my brother. That would practically be incest for goodness sake!’ Then he hung up.

When I hear 'charts' I think of Casey Kasem...

But not all charts are on the radio. Check out the Xcite Chart in ETO Magazine. Do you see me? There I am...

For one of my favorite novels ever, too, Calendar Girl. Which has a brand new cover. Check it:

Some of the recent reviews for Calendar Girl (which make me happy, happy).

"The sex scenes are steamy and naughty. And with Sommer Marsden's witty writing, the story is laugh out loud funny." ~Sheiglagh

"I loved, loved this book. That is pretty much all I can say. I think I was laughing on every other page and jeez the sex was hot. I am even considering becoming a "Calender Girl"." ~ Ginnie

"All the characters are fully drawn and very alive. Makes me wish my best friend was a transvestite.
Most fun I've had in a few books." ~alwayschanging

"I wish ya'll can hear me screaming...I'm experiencing sensory overload. Added to that I've a major problem- after embracing so many auspicious creativity by fantastic authors my list of " faves" is growing exponentially but above them all Sommer Marsden is as of this moment my absolute favorite author of all time." ~loveunltd

See...happy :)

Big day!

After a few snafus yesterday--meaning no radiation OR chemo--treatment for the man began today. Finally. It all seemed to go pretty well. Yay!

Also yay! It is girl child's 15th today (sob!). My baby is 15. And since I am basically perpetually 15 on the inside, we are now the same age.

Happy Birthday, girl child! I made her this...

And the third and final yay is the inaugural volume of the new Coming Together: Treasures line is my volume :) Thirteen is my lucky number and there are thirteen tales in this book. All proceeds go to PanCan.org who have already been invaluable to us with information about pancreatic cancer. So go buy a copy and do a good deed by reading dirty.

And away we go...

Today starts treatment for the man. Fingers crossed, toes crossed, legs crossed...but not eyes. Never eyes. I have an eye phobia. But truth be told, I'll even cross those eventually if I have to.

Good thoughts, well wishes and prayers, greatly appreciated. However, we've gotten so many messages of hope, love and support from everyone that we already know we are going in armed with all of the above. So technically speaking, you are all already appreciated :)

Here we go. Kicking some cancer ass. It doesn't stand a chance. Om...

p.s. stay tuned. Tomorrow I will have info on my new charity antho to benefit PanCan.org . Want to support a great group of supporters? Buy a dirty book ;)

I totally forgot to post a link to this lovely review for Beast in Me from Ereader Erotica. I love that my book had a monster movie feel. Seeing as that is exactly the feel I had when writing it, that made my day. :)

"Overall, a strong recommend for shifter fans and those with the m/m turn-on this book provides. A very fun book, a nice escape from our mundane world, and into one where passion, magic, and shifters roam. Add danger, fun characters and excitement? Very nice indeed."

New Upcoming Spot for Writers: "That Other Voodoo That You Do"

Given current life things I'm looking for some spots to post on days where I have nothing really to say but..."durr". I was pondering this last night when I realized I'd really love to see what writers do when they're not writing.

Do you crochet? Do you paint? Do you bake, cook, brew beer, raise alpacas, have a chicken coop, garden or any other nifty thing? Do tell!

The spot will be called "That Other Voodoo That You Do" and you'll need to tell me about your hobby/love/addiction and show me at least one picture of said hobby/love/addiction (preferably more). Then we can do your bio and a link to your site and possibly your most recent book cover.

Woohoo! Won't this be fun? Please contact sommermarsden[at]gmail[dot]com with Voodoo in the subject line if interested. Please keep in mind there are certain parameters for blog content on UF. I doubt that will come up but I'm tossing it out there just in case ;)
